Getting to Know Web3 Natives: Interview with Bobby Sol

This interview explores the journey of a prominent Web3 influencer known as Bobby Sol, who has successfully navigated the intricacies of this rapidly growing sector. From initial interest to confronting obstacles within the industry, their experiences shed light on the driving forces behind success in Web3. The questions asked during the interview, along with their detailed responses, have been enriched to offer a comprehensive view of their path in the Web3 realm.

Can you share with us your journey into the Web3 space and what inspired you to become involved?

I first became involved after being exposed to vpro’s Bitcoin content on YouTube around 2015. A decentralized global ledger seemed interesting; I was in college majoring in accounting & finance and it captured my interest. I didn’t start getting involved or learning beyond YouTube videos and random articles until late 2017. The strongest pull for me initially was the inflationary nature of the dollar and the deflationary nature of BTC.

What were some of the initial challenges you faced in the Web3 industry, and how did you overcome them?

Networking is challenging, which is why impressed with your platform. Until you’re knowledgeable enough to provide value and insight, you can’t get your foot in the door in the industry. Rewiring your brain from TradFi to DeFi and being exposed to new terminology, frameworks, technology and possibilities is a lot to wrap your head around. You can overcome anything with perseverance and knowledge, so studying & learning are the best tools.

How do you stay informed and ahead in the rapidly evolving Web3 ecosystem?

Exposing yourself to the right people is the best way. Curating your sources of information and cultivating your network with like-minded curious individuals is very important. Researching & writing on your own accord to share value is how you don’t fall behind. I try to devote at least a couple of hours every day to researching something further to gain a deeper understanding, or jumping into something new that I haven’t scratched the surface of yet.

What motivates you to continue working within Web3, despite its challenges and uncertainties?

If you aren’t excited about challenges and uncertainties, this is not the industry for you. This is a new landscape that we are here to shape & build. If you’re more afraid than inspired and invigorated, stick to Web2. The possibilities can’t be understated.

What exactly do you offer regarding marketing, PR, and promotions? How do you help Web3 projects succeed?

To date, I haven’t made a dollar in Web3 aside from investing. If I believe in you, am interested in your project, or you’re building something interesting, you have me on your side for free. My dream one day is to work in Web3 full-time; I’m grinding it out, learning & putting the work in daily right now. I help Web3 projects succeed in many ways. I bring a fresh, unfiltered perspective. I don’t compromise on my values. I quickly understand gaps in a company or project and how best to fill them. I’m a natural leader and a self-starting decision-maker. I’m tapped into what consumers know they want, what they don’t know they need, and what they don’t want. Many times I’ve seen projects trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist, or build something that isn’t cool. I’m vocal with my opinions. I deeply understand how to communicate, to the consumer or a team, in a way that’s effective & succinct.

What projects or achievements in Web3 are you most proud of, and why?

Since 2017 I have forged numerous partnerships, improved existing ones, and re-imagined our supply chain & logistics framework. Our revenue growth more than doubled from $3.3 million in 2017 to $7.2 million in 2022.

Looking ahead, what are your main goals or ambitions within the Web3 space?

My ultimate goal in Web3 is to work full-time doing what I love. I’m a voracious learner and a creative thinker. In real life I’m a CFO; responsible for providing critical financial insights & strategic guidance to push the needle and drive my company forward.

For someone interested in starting their journey in Web3, what advice would you offer?
